15th International competition of young pianists - Nis

A Brief History of the Competition

The International Competition of Young Pianists traces its roots back to the Competiton of young pianists of Yugoslavia founded by the professors in the piano department at the Nis Music School, which at the time was named "Dr Vojislav Vuckovic". The first competition was held in 1992, four years later it continued to be biennial before becoming international in 2004.

More than 10.000 young pianists, elementary and high school students, university and conservatory students from the country and abroad (Italy, Germany, Russia, Greece, the USA, Great Britain, Korea, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republika Srpska, Montenegro, Macedonia, Bulgaria, and other) have so far taken part in this event.

Jury members who, by participating and applying their professional expertise, have marked the competitions in Nis to date, are eminent pedagogues, highschool and university professors teaching in Serbia (Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis, Kragujevac, Sremska Mitrovica, Negotin, Pristina) and abroad (Montenegro, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Great Britain, Israel, the USA, Singapore).
